About us

A home in the hills, a family to welcome you

Among the green hills of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, Rio Monte combines the daily work of the land with quality farm hospitality.

Rio Monte was founded in 2005 as a family-run farm, a few kilometres from the centre of Modigliana, the heart of the Tramazzo Valley and of “Tuscan Romagna”. It includes the main house, where the owners live, and a charming, fully renovated guest house reserved for our guests.

All around, 15 hectares of land with vineyards, fruit trees, forage crops and cereals. Family hospitality, nature and good food: the right place to recharge and find peace and well-being.

Discover Modigliana

Once a medieval fief of the Counts Guidi, lords of more than two hundred castles between Romagna and Tuscany, Modigliana is a town rich in history, traditions and hospitality. It is the birthplace of the painter Silvestro Lega and, since the 17th century, home to the Accademia degli Incamminati.

  • —Rocca dei Conti Guidi, the “Roccaccia”, where the Ibola and Tramazzo rivers meet: its walls, split vertically by a collapse in 1915, reveal the rooms inside.
  • —Piazza Pretorio, one of the finest medieval squares in the province, with Palazzo Pretorio housing the Silvestro Lega Art Gallery.
  • —Ponte della Signora, an 18th-century humpback bridge with three arches.
  • —The Cathedral, the ancient parish church of Santo Stefano, and the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Cantone with lunettes by Silvestro Lega.

Rooms in the old town. Besides the countryside B&B, on request we also offer rooms in the heart of Modigliana.
